April 2008: Compost

Meanwhile, Jenny was raking up lots of leaves left over from the fall and winter. We distributed them, along with the grass and dirt I'd hoed up, to a flashy new compost pile in the corner of the yard. Jenny had also trimmed off some branches from a tree in our yard, so she spent a day weaving them together to form a fence that would keep the pile contained. (In case you're wondering, I'm still working on teaching her the concept of opportunity cost.)
