October 2008: When the garden starts smiling on us.

Let's start with an overview . . .

Several rows of lettuces and greens took off once we had cooler days and a little rain (I was trying to think how I could use the verb "rocket" in that sentence for pun value). Starting with arugula . . . A few mixed lettuces . . .


And a less conventional leafy vegetable: red amaranth.

Tomatilloes . . .
Several tomatoes in their cages, and then a few cherry tomatoes on the vine.
A squash that rotted before we could ever eat it. So far, I think I've had 10-20 squash plants, but we've yet to eat a single squash. There's always hope.
Here's some corn, but we got even less ears in the fall than we did in the spring.
A cucumber ready to pick. I think I've mentioned this before, but these are Suyo cucumbers, which is why they're so ugly.
A watermelon that looks much bigger when you zoom in . . .
